Tips to keep your system healthy:
-
Do a
disk clean-up to delete all temporary files from your system's hard
drive.
-
Do a
disk defragmentation to organize all files in your hard drive and
speed-up the system.
-
Run the
windows update option to get the latest patches and updates from
Microsoft for your system; If you use a different operating system
(Mac, Linux, etc) obtain the updates from the recommended source.
Remember that your system needs to be connected to the internet in
order to be able to download the updates.
-
Back-up
your information. Depending of the amount of critical information
you have stored in your hard drive do a back-up a least every two
weeks. This is the only way to avoid loosing important documents or
files if your computer get infected with a virus or your hard drive
crash.
-
To keep
your system safe from viruses, update the antivirus program at least
once a week. Sometimes your system is connected to the internet and
the live update feature (to automatically update your virus
definitions) is not able to connect to the server and get the latest
virus definition updates; at this point you need to do this manually
by clicking on the update option of your antivirus software.
Remember that your system needs to be connected to the internet.
Check recent discovered viruses, malware, spyware,
etc...
